Spring Thyme on the Farm!

What’s planted in the heart

is rooted in the soul.

So let God’s Message be the start

for all the learning that you know!!

Thyme Began in the Garden

Yes, it is soon spring time, so enjoy all the wonderful Scents God has created for you with so many flowers and herbs. “A Symphony of Scents” When you think of a symphony you think of several musical instruments combined to make a musical composition. That can take your mind on a journey to a peaceful place. I think God created flowers and herbs to give us a symphony for our senses. Combining so many flowers and herbs to take us on a journey thru our scent and sight. So take the thyme to stop and Smell the Roses along with so many other wonderful scents this spring, and let yourself imagine a peaceful place to spend time with our Amazing Creator!

Thyme- in the language of “Flower Meaning”- Thyme means courage and sacrifice.

This isn’t hard to understand once you read accounts in ancient history about thyme and what it was used for. The name Thyme comes from the Greek word Thumos and or the Latin word Fumus. Both mean to smoke which might be due to it’s use in sacrifices or because of it’s fragrant odor, also tied to the word fumigate.

A new "Little Fellow" at the Farm!

We now have a new addition to the farm. An American Lamancha goat that is about 2 weeks old and still has to be bottle fed. He is full of spunk and a lot of fun to watch running around. We are still thinking of a name for him.

Herbal Gathering Thyme

Take a little Thyme to spend in the Garden!

January--February 2015

Genesis 1:11-12, 29-30

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

This is a familiar verse that we have used on our dip mixes almost from the beginning. It explains that God first gave us the herbs to use. We hope you are interested in spending some Thyme learning more about herbs and their uses as much as we enjoy them. This is why we are starting this monthly newsletter. A thyme to have a cup of tea (herbal) and gather little bits and tidbits on the topic of herbs, how to grow them and what to do with them once you have them, along with herbs we will also be highlighting other natural topics like honey, grains etc.

A lot of people will read an article or go to a show that highlights herbs and something inside them begins to grow a thirst for these unusual plants. Unusual why? Because unlike most plants that you plant, weed, watch grow, and develop flowers to grace our gardens only to die off in the fall, herbs can provide us many uses throughout the year. Herbs bring a whole new dimension to the garden. Even if you know nothing about herbs you’ve heard they are suppose to be useful for something but just what?

That is the question..... So we’d like to demystify the world of herbs. Making it fun and especially easy to use these wonderful creations from God. Getting back to my musings, people have been fascinated by herbs for hundreds of years. So what to do? When to do it, and how to do it!

“SO LET’S GET STARTED” , and the best way is one herb at a time. Each month we will offer information on the highlighted herb, it’s benefits and uses. Along with some recipes, both medicinal, and culinary to turn your everyday recipes into herbal delicacies. We are not here to diagnosis or treat any disease, this information is only for educational purposes and what you do with it is up to you. If you have any health condition we advise you to seek the help of a medical professional. There are wonderful doctors that are open to herbal treatments and also natural practitioners..

So Be Wise and Be useful.

This Herbal Thyme newsletter may be a little long but we wanted to explain why we decided to start this.
Thank you for joining us and next month (March) we will be dedicating our issue to the name of our newsletter Thyme! So lets take a little thyme each month and learn a little more about herbs.
We always enjoy hearing from you about ways you use herbs and if you’d like to comment on the topics we welcome your ideas. Also anytime you’d like to add a recipe for the next issue I will be glad to include it along with your name (if you desire) in the next issue. I am always learning new ideas to use these wonderful plants that grow throughout the world, from our friends like you!

So have a wonderful Herbal Day!

Blessing from our farm to your door!

The WEaver!

Lisa, Brad and the rest of the crew!
